EAR PLUGS
Wednesday the Degenerate Press staff headed over to the Star Bar for 17 Years' single release party and the return of Scooter, the lead singer. Scooter held his foot to the base of the mic stand as if trying to keep it from dancing to the punky tunes they were banging out one after another, even punkifying Midnight Rider for the grand finale.
Scott Carpenter and the Real McCoys followed, far too familiar with the Star Bar regulars and Star Bar sound to be from New York, as their flyers claimed. Lots of country-fried Elvis, both Presley and Costello. Excellent stuff.
Thursday we were back at the Star Bar to catch The Frantic Flattops. Despite the Loafing's less-than-favorable review, the DP staff and the small crowd applauded every number of this extremely energetic rockabilly trio. Everyone was all smiles & swingin'.
