Saturday we went to investigate the rumors of the Atomic in Athens shutting down to become a brew pub. A brief visit to the Italy reunion party, Brian Crean's art sale and beer guzzle, and a stop off at the Manhattan to hook up with some members of Mud Flap Tammy later we're plunging into the already crowded Atomic just as The Ladonnas exit the stage. "They ROCKED!" yells Trish, the odd-haired bartender of The Point. Other reviews varied greatly.
Many scantily-clad redneck underground bisexual females flocked to the front of the stage as Nashville Pussy took the stage. "Motorhead, with tits." degenerate GT later described. The 12 foot tall bass player wore see-through pants and bent over to slap her ass between sets, the beautiful lead guitarist stipped to her leopard skin bra and thrashed around like mad, while an older, fatter, balder version of Lemmy yelled songs about dirt track racing and guns. LOUD, DAMN loud, maybe the loudest show I've ever attended.
The scantily clad redneck underground bisexual ladies removed even more clothes and things heated up to the point of Georgia asphalt. Eventually the band and crowd could take no more and fell off the stage. The New Bomb Turks followed, archetypal punk and good but it was late and we were spent so we headed out.
Brew pub? Oh yeah, forgot to ask...
