EAR PLUGS
Just another incredible night at the Star Bar. The editor's illness prevented him from covering the entire event. Instead, I saved up my evergies for the third and final night of the stellar event. Dragline kicked things off to a small but highly appreciative crowd. Buttkickin' as always, with their "strait ahead garage rock" they've said. Lots of Texas and Southern influence, but you'll find all that out for yourself July 5.
The Ramblers followed, as did the crowds. By the end of the Ramblers' luscious set the joint was hopping. Many Star Bar regulars and lots of first timers smiling ear to ear.
Drive By Truckers, hard drivin' country from Athens, cranked out really fun songs about G.G. Allen, Steve McQueen, Bulldozers and Dirt, and lots of other macho, southern reference jokes.
Tobasco Cats were supposed to follow, but they didn't show so the Truckers kept on truckin' till Redneck GReece was due to come on. That was 1 AM and standing on concrete for such an extended time had it's toll on my feet. GReece ws pumping out the usual perfection, tunes about truckin' and beer and women, when we finally headed for the door. Hellyeahbygod.
