As if Truckadelic weren't enough adrenalin, The Forty Fives followed. |
I didn't get a lot of good pictures 'cause I was too busy jumping around like a lunatic with the rest of the crowd. |
The Forty Fives barely took a breath between tunes, much less a break or tuned or any of that crap. Non stop 60's garage rock played with get up and go Go GO! |
Last up, Greasepaint's Hair Metal Midway. Jim was in a bad mood so a normally angry clown was even more angry, and the band was happy to play along. |
If you're curious, a fear of clowns is coulrophobia. If you don't have it, you probably could've developed it after this hardcore version of Greasepaint. Even the occasional slide whistle couldn't take the edge of the punky racket. I missed the earlier Athens incarnation of Greasepaint, Big Top, but had enjoyed the Atlanta version with Mike Geier immensely. Rumor had it this particular incarnation was closer to the Big Top original. Unfortunately the vocals were drowned out by the guitar, though the way Jim was growling them out I'm not sure any mix would've helped. |
Joel had used pieces of this outfit in The Dong Squad, to great effect. |
I split toward the end of their set with sore feet and ringing ears. |
